Kathryn Hall, psychotherapist at Repose
Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.

Working together

How Kathryn can support you

People often come to Kathryn for support with grief and loss, anxiety, and trauma. She also works with depression, OCD, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem, and sexuality. Her experience includes supporting people on the autism spectrum and working with behavioral concerns.

Kathryn hopes her sessions feel empathetic and enriching. She wants clients to have the space to work through what feels hard. Throughout, they can count on her steady presence beside them.

Her approach

Kathryn's approach

Kathryn is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and uses it as a framework to guide her work. She also brings a somatic approach, which pays attention to how experiences are held in the body.

Depending on the person, she draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Her work is also shaped by psychodynamic and relational therapy, play therapy, and a holistic, trauma-informed lens.

Why Kathryn

Why work with Kathryn

Kathryn has learned that trauma can't be put in a box and labeled. She believes it helps to name it in order to tame it, and she does that work with curiosity.

As a queer therapist, Kathryn brings her own lived experience to her work. That understanding helps her support queer clients with care.

Kathryn knows grief is complicated and often comes with shame and rumination. In a world that tends to rush past grief, she makes room to sit with it and feel the emotions fully.

About

About Kathryn Hall

Kathryn holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Utah, with an emphasis in school social work and mental health, and has worked with many age groups through traumatic experiences and everyday struggles. As a marathon runner, she is always training for her next race. Running is how she lets off steam and structures most of her days. Between runs and sessions, she loves getting cozy with a book or chatting with her roommates about anything and everything.
