Overview

What family therapy at Repose is

Family therapy looks at the family as a connected system. Instead of focusing on one person as the problem, your therapist helps everyone understand patterns, roles, and needs. Sessions may include the whole family, parents only, or smaller groups.

Approaches include family systems thinking, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, EMDR, and somatic tools for hard moments.

What we help with

Our work is culturally responsive and honors each family's values, traditions, and ways of caring.

Questions people ask

Questions about family therapy

Can we use insurance for family therapy?
No. Like couples therapy, family therapy at Repose is self-pay and not billed to insurance. See our Insurance and Fees page.
Does the whole family need to come?
Not always. Some sessions include everyone, others include parents or a smaller group. Your therapist will help you decide.
My child needs individual therapy. Is that different?
Yes. Individual therapy for a teen or child is billed differently and may be covered by insurance. See our Therapy for teens page.
Do you offer parenting support without the kids present?
Yes. Many parents meet with a therapist on their own to work on parenting stress and communication.
