Perinatal & postpartum

Perinatal and postpartum therapy, from trying to conceive to early parenthood

Fertility, pregnancy, birth, and the months after can bring joy, fear, grief, and exhaustion at once. You deserve support through all of it.

Where to begin

You do not have to be "fine"

Many parents feel pressure to be grateful and happy. The reality can be more complicated. You might feel anxious, low, disconnected, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself. These experiences are common, and they are not a sign that you are failing.

Perinatal mood and anxiety concerns can begin during pregnancy or any time in the first years after birth.

Understanding it

What perinatal support covers

The perinatal period brings huge changes to body, identity, relationships, and sleep. We support people through fertility challenges, pregnancy, birth trauma, pregnancy and infant loss, postpartum anxiety and depression, intrusive thoughts, and the adjustment to parenthood.

Partners are welcome too. The transition to parenthood affects everyone, and couples sessions are available.

Our approach

How we work in the perinatal period

We make room for every feeling, attend to your body and sleep, and build support that fits real life with a baby.

  1. Step 1

    Orientation

Understanding your story, your support, and what you need most.

  2. Step 2

    Stabilizing

Grounding practices, rest strategies, and support for hard moments.

  3. Step 3

    Processing

Working through birth experiences, loss, or fears at your pace.

  4. Step 4

    Integration

Growing into your role as a parent with more self-trust.

Questions people ask

Questions about perinatal therapy

Can I bring my baby to sessions?
Online sessions from home are often easiest in the early months. Ask our Client Care Team about in-person options.
Do you support pregnancy loss and infertility?
Yes. We support people through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, fertility treatment, and difficult decisions about family building.
What if I have scary thoughts about my baby?
Intrusive thoughts are a common part of perinatal anxiety and OCD, and they do not mean you will act on them. Please tell your therapist. If you ever feel unsafe, call or text 988 or call 911. Repose provides outpatient therapy and is not an emergency service.
