Hi! I am Yaojia. As a therapist, I firmly believe in human strengths and potentials. I believe clients - instead of therapists hold the ultimate key to their struggles, and my goal in therapy is thus, to support, assist and empower my clients to connect to themselves and find their inner voices, which will lead to personal growth and resilience.
I have experience working with life transitions, anxiety, depression, and experiences of bullying and racism. I work with teenagers and adults, with a specific interest in emerging adults. Spending majority of my life in China and having studied in the US as a graduate student, I understand the unique experiences coming from an east Asian/Chinese background and navigating US society. However, I value the uniqueness within every narrative, and use the therapeutic space as a holding environment for each of my clients to tell their stories.
I am an integrative therapist influenced by humanistic, relational and CBT directed approaches. I also draw from mindfulness, Gestalt therapy and drama therapy to creatively address issues. I do not think therapy is a “one for all” thing. Working together, we will collaborate and design our own map for healing.
Sometimes life can feel out of control and sometimes it can be a bit “challenging”. But I will provide you with a safe space where you can feel free to face your true self and find out the lost voices.
If you are willing to start an amazing adventure of self-exploration, please know that you are in the right place.
